East Meets West: A Partnership in Lung Transplantation

In 2018, the UCSF Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery welcomed five visiting physicians from the National Lung Hospital/Hanoi Medical University for an intensive program on lung transplantation practices in the United States. Drs. Jasleen Kukreja and Binh Trinh led this collaboration along with the UCSF Lung Transplant Team and served as consultants to the National Lung Hospital team.

Under the visionary leadership of Dr. Dinh Van Luong, the National Lung Hospital has launched its first Lung Transplant Program in Hanoi, Vietnam. Since its inception, the program has achieved significant success, performing numerous life-saving lung transplants and establishing a strong foundation for continued medical excellence in the region.
